Some funny stuff from Mel.  She will be attending her Level I CrossFit certification this weekend.  Is there anything Mel can’t do?  Even with school, working out, being a mom, and living in Minnesota, she is chasing a 300 pound deadlift.  Go get em’, Mel.

“Things I learned this week:
1. According to my classmates the “best coffee on campus” is
synonymous with “the cheapest, Maxwell House, tea looking, crap
tasting, stuff that comes out of a huge dispenser in the next building
over”. They all like to add the flavored stuff that comes out of a
machine like the ones at big roadside stops along the freeway. At the
risk of looking like a coffee snob and becoming an outcast as a result
I had to refrain from tasting this delightful concoction.
2. There is a limit of just how much time I am willing to spend
reading about Bowel Elimination. Enough is enough already.
3. Temperature extremes in MInnesota can happen at any time of the
year. On Monday it was 93 degrees and tomorrow morning it will be
40. Looks like the first frost is right around the corner.
4. Getting whipped by a jump rope while doing double unders hurts just
as much at lower elevation. I thought the thicker air would slow the
rope down just enough to avoid causing pain. I was wrong.
5. And lastly, I can only go for 12 days on 4 or 5 hours of sleep a
night before I am required to take a nap.
Cheers, Mel”

And a cool video showing bar path and speed on a snatch.  Interesting information.  Although not highlighted in the video, look for the violent hip and knee extension, as well as carefully note that although each lifter gets the heel off of the ground, they both drive through the heel and only end up on their toes as a result of the violent hip/knee extension (jump).  Does your pull/swing look like the one in the video?
