CF Games Open wod 11.6

Here it is folks, the final workout for the worldwide competition.

AMRAP 7 minutes

Thrusters and chest to bar pull ups.

The rep scheme is 3/3, 6/6, 9/9, 12/12…and so on, in ascending order until time expires.  Holy smokes!

Now, almost everyone has had their shot at performing in a competitive setting.  Your reps are judged and counted and you have your peers watching and cheering for you.  We hope all of you enjoyed the chance to do so.

During this Open period, many of you did things you had not previously achieved.  We hope you learned something about yourself that we already knew: you are all capable of much more than you think you are.  We know things you can do before you do them.  We talk about the mental aspect of CrossFit a lot.  Not quitting, doing more work in less time, being the best you can be.

Is it really any wonder that military special operators, Olympic athletes, college athletes, outdoor professionals and like use CrossFit as their general physical conditioning program?  The answer is plainly and loudly NO.  Do you know someone trying to be better at their sport or life and they are not utilizing CrossFit to help them be great?  We all do, and we want to strangle them because we know training with us will make them more fit.  More fit equals an increased work capacity in order that we are better, longer for our sport of choice.

Is CrossFit the only training method?  No.  Are there other conditioning programs like Pilates, yoga, running, and cycling that can help?  Absolutely.  However, used in combination with sport specific skill work, CrossFit programming is the best method to help you prepare for what you do.  We now have Zumba classes in our area and some of you have tried it and found it to be fun.  And the same for Pilates and yoga to name a few.  If it’s fun and it helps you learn to move differently, more effectively, or more efficiently, then do it all and do it as much as you want to.

Do we like our methods best?  Hell yes.  One of the tenants of CrossFit is to try new things.  Do this.  Next time you’re in the gym, read the 10 general physical skills that is above the board where we write the workout of the day.  We cover them all in CrossFit and we have fun doing it.  And we all know, contrary to popular belief or legend outside our ranks, we do it safely and effectively in a positive environment.

We hope you have all enjoyed the CrossFit Games Open workouts whether you did one of them or all six.  Hopefully, you learned something we already know.  We may be ordinary people, but we are capable of extraordinary thing.  We are proud to be associated with all of you.

Thank you for being awesome!
