150 wall ball shots for time.

And in another long list of accomplishments, Joanie, aka the Queen of Badassistan, was heard to mutter, “that was easy,” after the movement, got her muscle up today.  Below, you will see her in her posed up glory after getting to the top.

Great job, Joanie!

And follow this link for great information about kids and learning.  Turns out that fitness academic success are related.

Boy – I realize more and more how little I have exercised over the years – and how muscles that should have been used have almost never been used – at least not much…. If we would have exercised like we are now in CrossFit, we would be able to do so many things…. Many of you HAVE done well over the years – I wish I had – but sometimes I feel sorry for you, because some of you might be wishing you were back in your “glory” days or something – I don’t know. But I am coming into my glory days…. that is really fun. I am looking forward to doing so many things that I have never done – like “skin the cat” – and a muscle up – and a hand stand….. I fully intend to do a lot of these things. Thanks to all of you, especially Alan and Faith, for all the help and encouragement. Paul

Paul, you are doing amazing things every day, and inspiring us while you are at it! We probably all wish we had found this CF thing before we did, because we can all see the changes in ourselves that have occurred thus far. Imagine if we had had the opportunity to do this when we were 8, or 12, or 15. Our kids and grandkids have that opportunity, and I hope they will find a life of good health follows. But in the meantime, we get to grow and change and challenge ourselves every day. While a good portion of the world sits on the couch, eating bon bons, watching TV and reliving their glory days from high school, there is a small army of people learning, pulling, stretching, building, and getting younger with each day, instead of feeling older. We are so happy to have you and LaVonne amongst us to inspire us.

The other day, Khris and I were actually having a similar conversation about this. Khris said something along the lines of “Can you imagine if we had found CrossFit when we were in our 20’s” ….. I’ve thought about that statement a lot over the past few days and I believe that, granted, it would have been great to have gotten into this awesome fitness/health regimen earlier but at the same time, I believe that you have to be in the right “place” to make it take hold. In our twenties, we were transient and didn’t have a very healthy lifestyle so even if we had seen and/or heard about it, I doubt it would have stuck. I, for one, am glad that I found Crossfit at all. I feel that these ARE my “glory days” – I am strong and healthy both mentally and physically. I feel and look a hell of a lot better than I did in my 20’s and teens. Really, I couldn’t ask for more. I don’t look at my past wistfully, it helped to shape the person that I am today but I do look forward to my future – to see the person that I am becoming. I have CrossFit to thank for a large part of who I am now and who I am yet to be.
