Mobility Workshop Fun … It Was Fun, Right? RIGHT?!?!?!

Ok, so perhaps the intense voodoo floss on the elbow or the lacrosse ball (read: pain ball) behind our hips wasn’t exactly fun but, most agreed that the benefits were immense!

Wait a minute … that doesn’t look like a totally chill day.

Thanks to all, who braved another lovely morning in Ouray to come punish their bodies with mobility. Hopefully, you’ve all learned a few new tips and tricks to better mobilize your joints and keep your muscles finely tuned.

If you missed out, please hit up one of your coaches for some of these fine tips when you’re in next week.

The biggest things I would love for you all to take away from our day together is this:
1. Prior to a workout DO NOT MASH YOUR MUSCLES! That means no foam rolling or pain ball action UNLESS you have a muscle that is particularly tight/problematic. In such a case, you may use a pain ball on that spot for no more than 30 seconds. Too much mashing and rolling (temporarily) deadens the nerves in our muscles and, ultimately, deadened nerves are not what we want when we’re moving heavy weight around or generally kicking ass.
2. Prior to a workout, continue to stretch muscle groups like calves or hamstrings as you have, but focus your mobility-attention on the joint. Get your joints nicely warm and mobilized and you decrease a chance of injury dramatically.
2. After your workout, MASH YOUR MUSCLES! This is the time to foam roll, really get that pain ball into a tough spot, etc.

Joint – not the dope kind – work and stretching prior. Mashing and foam rolling after.

Thanks, again, to everyone today. You were all so patient with a slower-than-usual class and lots of me babbling and I appreciate it. It was a lot of fun!

P.S. If you didn’t get a chance to experiment with the Voodoo Floss, you need to learn how. Seriously! Ask those that experienced it today … hell at first but magical once you’re done. For myself, the bad knee hasn’t felt this good in almost two years … and all I’ve done differently is use the Voodoo floss each day.

See you Sunday at 9 AM in the park … otherwise, have a great weekend and catch you all next week!
