New Years Resolution

What’s it gonna be this year? Nothing?

Choosing nothing is a decision too. Not choosing a goal, New Years Resolution or not, you have placed no trust in your ability to get things done for one of the most important people in the world…yourself.

Many of you already have goals, dreams, a list of things to do. Call it whatever you want, but it’s a goals list.

How about a health and fitness goal this year? A serious goal, not something nebulous and ethereal, but a goal that is measurable and quantifiable. Want a squat PR? Look better naked? 15 bodyweight benchpress? One more round of Cindy? Lose 10 pounds of bodyfat?

Guess what? Each of these require you get started, and sometimes that is the hardest part. That picture of yourself in just shorts, or shorts and a bra top? No one wants to do that part. Squat PR? We all have misgivings about getting under that bar.

If you need some direction, ask one of your coaches. If you don’t trust your resolve, make a small goal, something you think you can reach, and maybe this year becomes a year of small victories. One of our members goes through athletic accomplishments as a series of little victories, and this plan may work for you. Lock in your victories.

I was moved by this quote this morning, and you may not be, but it may affect one of you. That’s enough, but I’m hoping for more.

“Tell the truth. First, to yourself. Say it until it hurts. Learn the reality of your own selfishness. Quit living for other people at the expense of your own self, you’re not really alive. You live in the land of denial – and they say the view is pretty a long as you remain asleep.”

“Cut your hair. Don’t worry about the gray. If you’re good at what you do, no one cares what you look like. Go to the weight room. Learn the difference between actually working out and what you’ve been doing. Live for the Iron and the fresh air. Punish your body to perfect your soul. Kick the habit of being nice to everyone you meet. Do they deserve it? Say “no” more often.”

Here’s another phrase that’s been my mantra for the previous four years, “scare yourself every day.” Might be too much for some of you, and that’s okay, but maybe it makes you uncomfortable enough just reading it, that you want to make some changes.

Take advantage of us, your coaches, and let us help you scare yourself, or inspire you to do something you didn’t think you could do. We believe in the power of the human spirit. We believe in you.

Get Some. Go again.

Oh yeah…don’t for get to have some fun…okay, lot’s of fun…Every…Single…Day!
