Oh, the anticipation…

So, you are all wondering about when we will be deadlifting this week. Keep wondering. It’s more fun that way, for us, and we have found out that most of you don’t like knowing what you will be subjected to until you walk in the door.

Speaking of our Coan deadlifting program, most of you are doing great and have determined that you must really get psyched up to pick up heavy stuff and that weight lifting workouts are actually a lot of work. Especially when you are trying to have a super strong mid-line instead of just tossing about phrases like, “I have a really strong core.” Pfft. Picking up 400 plus pounds for boys, and 300 pounds for girls requires a strong core. Crunches and sit ups are fine, but deadlifting a back squatting requires real strength.

We are on week five of our program and you will see a few changes and we will take a bit of a step back and lower the weights. The reps are fewer as well.

If you missed your lifts last week, begin a bit of self examination. Was it just too much weight? Were you ready to lift that day? Were you tired? How was your form? Were you too far forward when the weight started moving? Did you try to lift the weight with your head? Did you keep a strong mid-line? Did you look like a turtle?

Your form must be near perfect for heavy lifting. Practice makes perfect. Actually, perfect practice makes perfect. Make your warm up lifts look like your heavy lifts, lest your heavy lifts look like your bad lifts. Work on your form and mental fortitude this week and we will make the decision to either move your projected weights or forge onward and upward.

Get some, go again!
