Spring Break Schedule And…

…a few announcements.

First, our schedule for the next week while some of us are traveling for spring break and various other reasons.

Sunday, March 30. 9 am
Monday, April 1. 6 am
Tuesday, April 2. 8:15 am
Thursday, April 3. 6 am
Friday, April 4. 8:15 am
Saturday, April 5. 9 am*
Sunday, April 6. 8 am*
Sunday, April 6. 9 am

* This will be for the Smolov Jr. Benchpress workout only (see below).

Next week we begin our Smolov Jr. benchpress program. You may remember from the Smolov Jr. squat progression we completed, the program is four days per week over three weeks, and then we go for another one rep max. We will program one day a week for everyone at the gym and this will occur on Tuesdays. Thursdays, everyone will have the option to benchpress, or do an optional workout that is not benchpressing. For those of you who do the All Inclusive Rate and want to do the third and fourth days, these will occur on Saturdays, and then on Sundays before our 9 am class.

You will make more progress with four days a week over the two days per week. However, the choice is yours. Everyone will have the opportunity to Benchpress one day per week, but we recommend three or four in order that you may make the greatest gains. Normally, we make all of these decisions for you, but on this program, you get to exercise some control of your destiny. Just like the squat program, there will be no make up workouts if you miss a day.

If you choose four days per week, congratulations on stepping up and facing the bar loaded with more weight than you’ve pressed previously. And really, it’s 12 workouts. 12. But it’s going to be hard. Just like the squatting program was hard. However, it’s still only 12 workouts.

So in the words of WWE Rassler Hulk Hogan (shameless growing up in the uncultured South reference), “Whatcha gonna do now, brother?!?”

The choice is yours.

A second announcement, a preview really. A few of us are testing a nutrition challenge and based on our results, we will roll out something previously unseen in our gym. This will be our May challenge for those of you interested in getting ready for Bikini Season by modifying your food, in addition to working out. And if you don’t prepare for Bikini Season, then this will be your chance to get ready for Mini-Skirt Season. And if you don’t celebrate either, this will be your chance to catch something in a Bikini or a Mini-Skirt. And if you don’t want that, then maybe you just want to look better naked. Regardless, this challenge can me both simple and fun.

We’ll give you more details soon.

Snow is on the way, forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Work hard, play hard, and have fun doing it. See you Thursday.
