Canyonlands, Bloody Knuckles, and an underlying sense of satisfaction

Jason on Pink FlamingoCruise Director and Tinkerbell spent the weekend crack climbing near Canyonlands NP.  The weather was beautiful and it’s great to get out of the canyon (Ouray) every now and again (or every other week).

In the first photo, Cruise Director is on a 130′ crack that is only one inch wide.  That’s just big enough to fit your fingers in.  In some cases, it’s slightly larger (off-fingers), which is an even harder size.  This does terrible things to your skin and body.  We were very sore and our knuckles were bloodied after this one.

The second photo is of our friend Michelle on a two inch wide crack.  That’s about wide enough to fit half of your hand into.  The amazing thing about the part of the world is the big open skies, the silence, the topography, and the perspective.  You’ll just have to see for yourselves if you haven’t already.
