Crossfit time

Mendenhall GlacierAbout 8 hours into day two of walking on our descent from the Mendenhall Towers in Alaska… the endless expanse of glacier and crevasses has finally ended, but the 65 lb. pack is breaking me. My hips are bruised, my feet ache with each step and my knees feel like they’re going to give out. There’s an hour or so of forested trail left. There are some day hikers that have offered to give us a ride from the trailhead to the house we’re staying at. Challenge; keep up with the day hikers to ensure a ride! One hour, that’s only a crossfit workout or two I tell myself. Manageable portions to wrap my mind around. My legs fumble and I almost collapse. Stay focused! One step then another. BRING ON THE PAIN! IT’S CROSSFIT TIME IN MY MIND! DOUBLE WORKOUT TODAY!!!

Of course I kept up with the day hikers. It took some mental tenacity, but I did it.

Way to rally the mental troops, J. Glad you’re out living life the way it should be lived. Safe travels.
