Snatch skills and drills

The snatch is a very complicated movement with many parts that go wrong.  And there is lots to go wrong.

So how do we get better at the snatch?  Practice, practice, practice.  Skills and drills make this difficult lift at least passable for most of us.  After much practice, one time the lift goes right and I have heard the same story from many people about that first time.  It goes something like this, “I set up over the bar, jumped the bar up hard, and the next thing I remember is sitting under the bar wondering how I got to this position.”

When it goes right it’s a thing of beauty, power, grace, flexibility, and athleticism.  When it goes wrong?  Well, not so much.

So enjoy the work.  It’s a process.
