Veteran’s Day

Most likely, our grandparents, and maybe our parents served our country in the military.  It is also most likely you know someone who served more recently or is still serving.

Today is the day to thank someone who made a sacrifice you didn’t make, you wouldn’t make, or you couldn’t make.  I saw another website say it this way, “Thank a veteran, so you could play in a rock band.”  Funny, eh?  But it makes the point.

It’s Veteran’s Day.  Honor those who served.

    Hero

    For those who fought on distant shore,
    Who gave without a word;
    Defending us with honor,
    So gallantly they served.

    For every boy who left his home,
    Returning there a man;
    And every woman who made a choice,
    To make serving part of her plan.

    For every fallen soldier,
    Who gave all they could give;
    To guarantee our liberty,
    And the freedom that we live.

    Each one who served with honor,
    The brave, the tried, the true;
    America gives it thanks today,
    For we see a hero in you.

    Thanks to everyone who ordered a flag for your storefront or home from the Cub Scouts today. It’s great to get out there with them and teach them why we honor all that served and are serving. Your support is very much appreciated. If anyone else wants in on this for our next national holiday, please let me know. We’ll set you up.

    Thanks Temple and Boyfriend! Having a dear 21 year old nephew killed in Iraq a couple of years ago and a SEAL son just back from “somewhere over there” it is good to remember all those who have served.. It has been a meaningful day for me.
