Fall Schedule

Huh?

Beginning Tuesday, September 6, we go back to our regular schedule and add a few classes for those of you who may want a little extra. Our regular classes will be as follows:
Monday 6 am, 8:15 am
Tuesday 6 am, 8:15 am, and 5:30 pm
Thursday 6 am, 8:15 am, and 5:30 pm
Friday 6 am, 8:15 am

We are adding an Olympic lifting class for everyone who wants to practice this difficult sport as there is just very little time in our regular classes to work the snatch and the clean & jerk. The class will cost an additional $15 per month for our members and will be every Monday evening beginning at 5:30 pm. The class will last about and hour and a half, more or less depending on the skill we are improving and your available time. We will train the Olympic lifts and the accessory movements in order to give you a bigger snatch and make your jerk bigger…

You may not be aware, but we are part of the Western Slope Weightlifting Club with Telluride and Durango CrossFit gyms. Faith and Alan are both USA Weightlifting Club Coaches. The USAW is the governing body that is responsible for the weightlifting program that prepares and sends athletes to compete in the Olympics and other international competitions. Get some additional instruction and improve yourself in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.

Want to get stronger and faster, jump higher and be more durable? Our powerlifting program will be on Thursday and Friday mornings at 5 am. This program piggybacks on our regular CrossFit programming by adding the speed component of our strength system. In our regular classes we work the first two components, Max Strength, and Strength Endurance, and adding this class to your training, we add the speed component. Throughout the summer you have seen the small group doing these workouts and we are now in a position with equipment to offer this class to everyone wanting to increase their strength. For most of us, high end strength is a weakness, and now we are excited to offer this opportunity for anyone willing to improve this weakness. After all, does anyone really believe it wouldn’t be good to be stronger? Adding strength will help move weight easier, your regular workouts go faster, you do more work in less time…this is awesome!

The speed workouts as part of the powerlifting program will be an additional $15 per person per month for our regular members.

The schedule has been modified so that the Olympic lifting practice class and the powerlifting class can be in addition to your regular CrossFit workouts. However, if you only want one or the other on a certain day, you are welcome to do that as well. Doing both will assist you if you’re trying to improve your skill and strength weakness. Carefully consider doing one or both of these classes. We are excited to get better as athletes and help everyone else looking for a bit more adventure.

Please ask any questions you have about either program or how it may fit into your regular CrossFit program. If you are unsure, ask and try it, see what you think and make a determination if its something for you.

Finally, we still have time to work on our running skills.  If you are interested in a running class in the month of September, let us know and we’ll do a four session skills, drills, and workout class before it gets superchilly.  Faith and Alan are both trained in the CrossFit Endurance training method, and Alan has trained the POSE method with Dr. Nicholas Romanov, the inventor of the method.  Running is a skill that is neglected by almost everyone.  Learning and practicing this skill may not make you a world class runner, but it may make the regular workout suck a little less when you must run.  You may even find out you are good at it, or like it.  Running is a skill the same way the snatch and deadlift are skills.  Treat it that way and you’ll get better.  We can help you.

The new seasons and sports are right around the corner.  Are you ready?  Are you training for an event or just to be better at life.  Get Some, Go Again!

I am interested in the running class, Alan, as long as it doesn’t involve arms. 🙂 Not just kidding. Am free most nights now.
