Food Challenge Starts Today

Look Better Naked
That’s right … it’s food challenge time!  Starting today, Monday, October 22, 2012, all interested athletes embark on a 4-week (28 day) food challenge.

The Goal:

  1. Eat a strict Paleo Diet for the first two weeks (Oct 22 through Nov 5).
  2. Continue with the Paleo Diet for the second two weeks (Nov 5 through Nov 19)
    • During weeks 3 and 4, you may have 1 cheat day and two glasses of alcohol per week (red wine or tequila only)

The Food
We have a handy list of acceptable items here on our website. The general rule of thumb, however, is as follows:

  • Eat lots of lean meats (seafood is good as well) and veggies
  • Fruit and nuts are good for you but eating too many can hinder weight loss (should that be one of your goals) and can cause undesirable sugar spikes
  • Healthy fats are good (these come from Olive Oil, nuts, etc.)
  • Limit caffeine
  • Drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water per day (150 lb. person should have 75 oz. of water each day)*
  • Get good rest*

Basically, if it’s doesn’t fit into one of the four bullets above, avoid it, especially refined/processed sugars and grains. None of those!

*A lot of folks do not realize this, but, if you want to lost weight, water and sleep are two of the best tools at your disposal.

Measurements
Take the following measurements today (or on your start date):

  • Weight
  • Chest
  • Biceps
  • Waist (measure around belly-button … not where you pants fall)
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Take a couple of photos to get your baseline

But I’m Not Ready to Start Today
That’s okay! One of the purposes for timing Look Better Naked now is that it ends on the Monday prior to Thanksgiving. So, if you need a day or two extra to get organized/ready for the challenge, you can do that and still complete the four weeks before the Thanksgiving holiday.

But I’m a Vegetarian and Meat Is Icky
Grow a pair and eat meat.

Yep I just went there and my wife is a vegetarian :). Seriously, if you want some advice on how to go as Paleo as possible as a veggie, check with one of the coaches on how you can approach it.

Good luck to all those participating. Stay with it … you will LOVE the results!
