Nutrition Challenge: Look Better Naked

Look Better Naked … and Just in Time for the Holidays!

We’re stealing the title, Look Better Naked, for our upcoming food challenge from another CrossFit box. We think this title adds an amusing perspective to an otherwise difficult endeavor because, let’s face it, food challenges are hard. (Actually, every hour without a piece of Milk Rocky Road from Mouse’s is hard but that’s not the point … Well, it kind of is.) We might as well have a little fun with what we’re really trying to do: help our bodies and ourselves by cleansing our system of the crap we often eat and drink and, instead, powering our bodies with nutritious and clean (and tasty) foods.

For me, every time I start a nutrition challenge, I am skeptical of the benefits. I think things like, “I don’t need to go on a challenge. I eat well most of the time.” Yet, every time I complete one I am stunned by how much better I feel and look, the gains I see in my performance both in the gym and out, and how much more frequently I am in a good mood.

Food is fuel, folks. The better the food, the better we feel and perform. It really is that simple … and hard.

The Challenge

4 weeks on a strict Paleo diet. We have a list of foods right here on our site.

Pre-Challenge Meet-up
10 AM Saturday, October 20th at the gym.
We’ll go over the rules, a few general approaches to thriving during challenge, recipe ideas, shopping suggestions, answer any questions, hi-bar back squat and  needlepoint a little (I need a hat).

Challenge Begins
Monday, October 22

Challenge Ends
Monday, November 19

For those wishing to participate, be certain to note your start-of-challenge measurements: chest, biceps, waist, hips, calves, and thighs. Also, we recommend a series of before and after shots. If you stick to the challenge, you will be quite amazed at the changes you’ll see.

Oh, there’s super awesome bonus* to this challenge: you can go hog wild on Thanksgiving and not feel the least bit guilty. Woo hoo!

If you have any questions, feel free to leave us a comment (below) or ask one of the coaches.

* Bonus is neither awesome nor super.

Day 4 of the food challenge – wow, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I felt like hell the first three days and I’m still fighting the cravings! The good news (not really) – I’m heading to Vegas for a trade show so staying on the plan is going to get really hard…

Hang in there John. The first two weeks of you changing your habits is hard from a lifestyle perspective. Additionally, your body is asking the question, “what the hell is going on?” Stick with it. You will like the results in your appearance and performance.

      Good work!
